This year the parade will be led by a band of local musicians who all play regularly for community events in Kirkstall, Burley, Headingley and Hyde Park, not least the magnificently eccentric Hyde Park Panto!
Featuring members of Bassa Bassa, The Biscuit Badgers and Big Bamboo, and led by saxophonist Richard Ormrod, this new Kirkstall Festival Parade band will play a broad selection of upbeat, celebratory dance music from around the world featuring Samba, Funk, Afro and Soca rhythms. They look forward to entertaining all spectators en route to the parade ground.
Richard Ormrod leads Instant World Orchestra in Chapel Allerton and Dales Jam in Skipton, records for ATA Records and plays in several bands around Leeds, the north of England and internationally.
The Festival parade will be leaving Hesketh Road at 11 AM to arrive at the Abbey around 11:45 via the following 1.2 mile route (1.4 miles for those starting from the back).
Please take time to watch the parade supported by local schools and groups. To take part please be at Hesketh Road by 10:45 am PROMPT !! Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
