By Bus

Please also note that this year Vesper Lane will be closed to through traffic. Where possible PLEASE try to use public transport, it’ll help to make your day run smoothly.

From Bramley: 38, 49 and 91, alight at Kirkstall Leisure Centre and walk along to the Abbey (5 mins).

Due to the closure of Morris Lane the 50 & 50A are diverting down Abbey Walk past the Abbey House Museum and turning left on to the A65, alight at the first stop after the bus has turned on to the A65.

From Headingley: 91, alights on Kirkstall Lane opposite Kirkstall Leisure Centre and walk along to the Abbey (5 mins).

From city: buses 33, 34 and A1 Flyer (airport bus) travel along Kirkstall Road and Abbey Road and stop directly outside the Abbey. Due to the closure of Morris Lane the 50 & 50A are diverting down Kirkstall Lane and turning right on to the A65, these also currently stop directly outside the Abbey before turning right up Abbey Walk.

Bus 60 Aireline also travel along Kirkstall Road, alight at Kirkstall Morrisons and walk along Abbey Road to the Abbey (5 mins). Due to the closure of Morris Lane the 50 & 50A are diverting down Kirkstall Lane and turning right on to the A65, these also currently stop directly outside the Abbey before turning right up Abbey Walk.

From Horsforth: buses 33, 34 and A1 Flyer stop directly opposite the Abbey.

By Train

The nearest train station (Headingley)  is ¼ mile walk from Abbey House museum.The new Kirkstall Forge Station on the Airedale and Wharfedale Line. Walk up through the Kirkstall Forge site (and have a sneak peek at the site under construction) or along the towpath for a more leisurely route to the Abbey / Festival.  Eventually there will be a footpath directly to the Abbey Grounds along the bottom of the valley. Disabled Parking

Disabled Parking is on the tarmacked Abbey House car park off Abbey Walk, please show your Blue Badge pass to the staff at the entrance to the car park. There is step free access to the Abbey via the Abbey House gardens.

Car Parking

A free car park will be available at Kirkstall Festival. We would however ask you to consider public transport if you can as it will really help us on the day, and will make your day easier (it gets VERY busy with cars).

Please follow the signage and instructions from the staff running the car park. . Vesper Lane will be running as a ONE-WAY system on the day – he car park can only be entered via Abbey Walk. If approaching one the A65 towards Leeds.

Staff will be working VERY hard on Saturday to help you arrive safely and as quickly as possible so why not wind down your window and tell them what a good job they’re doing!

Note: There is likely to be heavy traffic and extra delays between 11:00 and 12:00 due to the procession. (Time TBC)
