Pay what you think! Battle of the apprentices!

Have you ever been to the Dough Bistro on Spen Lane? It is a gorgeous cafe/bistro and they often hold original events for patrons to enjoy. One such event that I thought may be of interest promotes local young chef talent with the opportunity to sample some truly delicious food.

On Tuesday 2nd April, all three of head chef, Luke Downing’s apprentices will go head to head for a chance to show-case their skills in a battle for customer approval. The apprentices, Laura, Adam and Natalie, have worked alongside Luke at Dough and Unit One, and are creating a menu each, based on their own experiences and showcasing the skills they have learned.

The format is simple, each apprentice must produce an amuse, starter, main, dessert and chocolates. The menus will be kept a secret until the evening, and customers are expected to choose whichever menu they think best. Then, at the end of the meal, the customer will pay what they think the meal is worth!

Working alongside De Vere academy in North Leeds, the apprentices have had months of training at the academy and at both Dough Bistro and Unit One Bar. Most apprentices barely get involved in producing menus and plating food for service, so this is a real opportunity to work to their own gross profit margin, with the victor being the apprentice who takes the most net profit, not just the most money!

Booking is essential; tables will be available from 6pm with the last sitting about 9pm.

Book your table and support our local up and coming chefs.
