LIVES AND LOVES
Headingley’s Literature Festival is back again for all those book lovers out there and this year’s looks like it will be another great event. The theme for this year is Lives and Loves and will run from 8th March until 1st of April and the various events will be held at venues in the Headingley area.
The Headingley LitFest is perfect for literature lovers of all ages and they have provided us with a sneak preview of what is to come which we can share with you today:
Salvo’s Salumeria, Mint, Lento and Secret Garden cafés are all organizing special evenings.
Ian Parks will launch his new book of Chartist Poetry in the HEART Café on Saturday 9 March.
Blake Morrison will read and talk in the New Headingley Club on 14 March.
George Szirtes will read and talk in the HEART Café on 15 March, with Kim Moore.
Hilary Spurling will talk about her recent biography of Pearl S Buck on 17 March in the New Headingley Club.
Theatre of the Dales and Trio Literati both have prime spots – on 16 and 22 March.
Kay Mellor will talk (about the new series of ‘The Syndicate’) on 23 March.
Peter Spafford will bring his musical and non-musical guests to HEART on 23 March.
Rumbustious poetry slams will take place at both Lawnswood and City of Leeds schools.
And on 21 March, in the Howard Assembly Room down in Briggate, Roger McGough, the newly elected President of the Poetry Society, will introduce his new book of poems ‘As Far As I Know’. Click here to find out all you need to know – www.headingleylitfest.
