Goit

 Sunday 8th May, 10:30am

This year Kirkstall in Bloom will be entering Yorkshire In Bloom, and will be showing off the area around the crossroads including the Drink and Be Grateful Garden and the Cenotaph.

In between these to is a goit that runs through the Abbey grounds, and we’d like to tidy it up a little to see what it looks like underneath the ivy and litter. Want to volunteer and help us?

Meeting at the Cenotaph at 10:30, we’ll spend two hours (may be three) on the site doing:

  • Litter picking along the banks and in the stream’s bed
  • Clearing rocks from the centre of the stream’s bed
  • Cutting back the ivy to expose the brick wall on the west bank

Depending on the number of volunteers who come, we may also look to do a little weeding/landscaping.

All volunteers will need is a pair of wellies, all other gardening tools will be provided.

The A65 will be closed to vehicles due to the Leeds Half Marathon, though volunteers will be able to the site by foot.
