Either way; it’s half-way

Mike Harwood has written another fascinating local history article, this time the memorial milestone outside the entrance to Kirkstall Forge, which reads:

“To London 200 miles S.

To Edinburg 200 miles N.

Erected A. D. 1829.

B & B

Kirkstall Forge 1779.

Leeds 3 ¾ miles’”

This is the latest article which charts the history about our area, and his previous articles include stunning pieces on the history of De Lacy Mount and the Normans.

The Local History section of the website is in the discussion boards and is full of interesting articles, please have a read of https://kirkstall.org.uk/board/forum_topics.asp?FID=1
