Dedicated Leeds Met volunteers working together with Aire Action Leeds have won a bid to complete regeneration work along the canal at Kirkstall Brewery.

Community Action @ Leeds Met (CALM) together with our Community Partnerships & Volunteering team and Aire Action Leeds are delighted to have won a bid for over £3000 to complete the regeneration work at the Wyther Lane car park area of Kirkstall Brewery.

In October, over 40 volunteers from Leeds Met, members of the local community and West Yorkshire Police worked for five days picking up litter, clearing the undergrowth and creating a pathway for the local residents to use.

Phase two of the project is now being planned and will utilise the help of BTCV (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers) to project manage the remaining five days of volunteering.

Volunteers are invited to come down and help out as part of the Kirkstall Canal clean-up between 15 and 17 February and again on 22 and 23 February. To book your place, please email Cara McCosh on c.mccosh@leedsmet.ac.uk.
