Local Bakery the Icing on the Cake at Kirkstall Festival

IMG_0613Local bakery Exquisite Handmade Cakes recently attended the Kirkstall Festival, our community’s annual event held in the picturesque grounds of the outstandingly beautiful Kirkstall Abbey.

Emma Stocks says: “The festival attracts thousands of visitors, from local residents, businesses, families and those coming from afar looking for an exciting weekend. This year the attractions included a fairground with many exciting rides, a huge variety of stalls, a youth stage, a tea dance, a variety of live music performed throughout the day, the procession and a comedy club.

“2013 was Exquisite’s first year attending the Kirkstall festival as a business, and safe to say the day was a huge success. We sold every single product that we had, meaning that the people of Kirkstall must know great cake when they see it! Especially popular were our two gluten-free ranges, as we had sold out of both of those by just after midday. With the dietary requirement being taken more seriously in the past few years many more people have been diagnosed, as well as those following a wheat or gluten free diet for the improvement of their health, which led to our Gluten Free Chocolate Brownie and Gluten Free Lemon Polenta Slice being hugely popular.

“Another product that went down extremely well with the festival goers was our brand new Chilli Chocolate Brownie, a product we were testing on the day but due to its immense popularity and the onslaught of positive feedback we received, should be becoming a brand new member of our range very soon.

“After such a wonderful day we will definitely be attending the festival again, and we hope to be able to do more events in and around Kirkstall to support our community and ensure that all their cake requirements are met! We would also like to say our thanks to the organisers of the festival, most of whom were volunteers, as every single one of them that we encountered was polite and extremely helpful, representing Kirkstall and the abbey very well. We look forward to seeing you all again at the festival in 2014.
