Suburban boredom

Putting out the wheelie bins

The highpoint of their week

living in suburbia

with simulated teak

Wash the car each Sunday

What else is there to do?

Drive out to a superstore

Maybe B&Q

Keep up with the Joneses

Buy a newer car

Keep it in the driveway

Never going far

Getting out the lawnmower

To manicure the lawn

Must impress the neighbours

This lifestyle is a yawn

The Spider

Once I had a spider

I kept it in a box

I knitted it a jumper

And four little pairs of socks

I’ll wait for you for ever

I’ll wait for you forever

Or maybe just a while

Could it be your body

Or possibly your smile.

The first time that I met you

I didn’t know for sure

That living life without you

Would just be a bore

You may not be a beauty

But that don’t bother me

‘Cos you’re my little cutie

And your coming home for tea
